Well we’re not dead yet!! And by the grace of God 2016 will be another year when He gives us more than we could ask or imagine…..

2015 was hard financially. Weather systems caused by El Nino wreaked havoc on our new passion fruit orchards whilst the old ones continued to under-perform. Which means that the business conceived to support our work actually drained our resources. Again! And so I was reminded often of the following scripture…..

“Though the fig tree should not blossom And there be no fruit on the vines, Though the yield of the olive should fail And the fields produce no food, Though the flock should be cut off from the fold And there be no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will exult in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation”WP_20141216_012

And the God of my salvation…..in whom I choose to exult always……provided as always: through sponsors, donors and paid work for me in Europe. In the midst of the agricultural struggles we were given the resources to:

– Grow Kigazi Community Nursery and Primary School to five classes and 293 pupilsWP_20150624_015
– educate another 58 children at Primary School in townWP_20150628_014
– Treat 9,000 patients in the Medical Centre and HospitalWP_20140916_009
– Deliver more than 50 babies safely in the maternity unitDSCN4265
– Continue to support Michelle and a number of other children whose parents can’t provide the care that they needWP_20151108_023WP_20150516_015
– And pay the wages of nearly 60 employees across the educational, medical, farming and administrative positions that we create

Which, given our resources and my limited abilities (!) …..is nothing short of a miracle!!!

Sadly, given the continuing weather problems which are forecasted to continue till Easter, I have had to suspend all operations in the orchards till then. Gutting but necessary. At the moment all our resources are tied up in the construction and equipping of the two new classrooms that we need to open in February – the start of a new academic year in Uganda. Made possible only by the generosity of a donor from Wigan and the provision of a job for me in Spain.

Please pray that God will continue to protect and bless us. That He will continue to pour out his love and blessing on our work and the staff that keep things going whilst we are away from Uganda, that the building programme will finish successfully, and that God’s will will be done and that His Kingdom will continue to be built on top of a mountain in Uganda. And join with me (and Matt Redman!) in praising Him…..

“Scars and struggles on the way, But with joy our hearts can say, Yes, our hearts can say…….
Never once did we ever walk alone, Never once did You leave us on our own, You are faithful, God, You are faithful!”
