It always upsets people when I say it……….but God loves the poor and children more than the rich and adults. That’s how I read scripture AND how I feel God by his Spirit as I work with the very poor and the young here in Uganda. Yes, God loves all of us…………but his love for the poor and young is especially passionate, fierce and all-consuming.

And so I hope and pray that He is pleased with the very child-centred week that we are having!

In yet another miraculous twist to my life….my daughter Caitie and her friend Bekka arrived in Uganda a week ago. Students of the carnage that was my life before Jesus transformed it will know that I have no right to expect any sort of relationship with Caitie and this visit has been a gift from God for which I am very grateful.

Caitie and Bekka have been focussing their efforts entirely on the childrens ministry that we have here – making new teaching aids for the J1010 nursery, playing with the children there, encouraging and advising the teachers in Kigazi, and giving computer training to our 22 young residents at the J1010 House.

Our two mzungu (white) travellers have struggled at times with the totally different culture, with different food and with different attitudes and it has not always been easy for them. But as I stood with them yesterday in the nursery school on top of a mountain and watched our 150 young pupils learning new skills, praying to a God with whom they have a personal relationship, singing songs that worship him, and glorifying their Creator with absolutely everything they have – I was reminded again why I do this. And filled with gratitude to God for allowing me to be a very small part of his plan.

God is good – all the time.

We know you and we love you Lord
