And walls to keep the sick safe and the newborns dry!

And walls to keep the sick safe and the newborns dry!

It’s approaching the weekend – 9 years ago the only form of ‘plastered’ that would have brought me any joy would have been alcohol-induced. Oh how different life is now!

I’m in the UK for another few weeks earning the money that God is providing to finish the ‘Hospital in the Hills’. As flipping usual I’m pining – both for my wonderful wife Hildah AND to be a part of the building programme that is going on in my absence. I feel amazement, wonder, gratitude, humility and envy as I see the Hospital that will serve this remote community becoming closer and closer to completion.

As I wrote earlier this month, before I returned to the UK we did everything possible to make sure that all the ‘ingredients’ for an efficient programme were in place – and God is blessing us with REAL progress. In the two and a half working weeks since I left…..all the floors are concreted (smoothing happens once the walls and ceilings are finished), the veranda is being constructed and the walls are now largely plastered. In just a few months time the poor people of Kigazi will be able to get hospital treatment in their community – and the need for the whole family to relocate to town in order to care for their ill relative in a disgusting Government hospital will be over.

Babies will be safely delivered, people will be healed and some will die within the community that they have never left – the place that is their home. And God will be glorified. And I believe that he will smile as I do when I see this progress – because after all……the poor have a special place in his heart as he showed when he lived with them on earth two thousand years ago.
